Prior to starting her private practice in Fort Worth, Laurie Mitchell practiced privately in Dallas. She has worked with a number of clients with a variety of issues, at widely recognized treatment centers and psychiatric hospitals. She completed internships in a variety of environments related to psychiatric units, substance abuse rehabilitation, a variety of mood disorders, personality disorders, and adjustment issues. She studied Human Development, Family Studies, Crisis Intervention, Relationship Interventions, and Substance Abuse. Private Practice experience includes significant work with adolescents, adults, couples and families. She completed her Bachelor's of Science in Human Development and Family Studies and a Masters in Counseling Education at the University of North Texas with an emphasis in relationships, assessment, crisis intervention, addiction, and traumatic stress. She has served as an expert witness and assisted attorneys in mediation. She works with a focus on relationships and the role healthy, mature and high functioning relationships play in a individual's healing. Laurie also enjoys working as Executive Director and Lead Facilitator for a nonprofit writing training and leading trainings in emotional intelligence and life management. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her husband, daughter and son.

I work with those who struggle with sexual addiction by helping them recognize their triggers, establish healthy barriers and boundaries, and ultimately replace unwanted behaviors with healthy alternatives that help to create a great life. I utilize EMDR to clear past hurts and trauma that fuel the addictive behaviors.
